Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明はスイッチングトランジスタアレイを有する液晶
表示パネルの構造に関する。
スイッチングトランジスタアレイを有する液晶表示パネ
ルはグラフィック表示が可能である車力）ら小型携帯用
機器の表示装置として注目されているが、発光表示であ
るＣＲ７表示と比較するとその表示性症は劣っている。
受光表示である液晶表示パネルの表示性症を向上はせる
にはパネル裏面からの照明が必要であるが、従来の液晶
表示パネルでは、スイッチングトランジスタのリーク電
流が照明に依って増加し、キャパシタに蓄積された電荷
が失なわれる為に表示が不可能となる。本発明はトｔ’
ｉｉ：ｌの欠点を除去して、スイッチングトランジスタ
を有する液晶表示パネルの照明を可能にし表示性症を向
上ζせる事を目的とする。
以下実施例に依っ丁詳しく説明する。
本発明は液晶表示パネルの照明を回部とする為にスイッ
チングトランジスタとパネル基板との間に遮光膜を形成
する。第１図に本発明の実施例の断面図を示す。パネル
基板１上に光を遮断する為の遮光膜２を形成する。遮光
膜２け金属もしくは金属群什物、特に高融漬金属もしく
けその硅化物によって形成謬れる。しかる後に絶縁膜３
を介してシリコン膜を形成し、トランジスタ４を構成す
る。トランジスタ４の上ＫＦｉｐ縁膜５を介してパネル
表面からの外光を遮断する遮光膜６を金属もしくは金属
硅化物で形成し、照明光及び外光からトランジスタを保
護する。本発明の液晶表示パネルは上ｔ’の様に遮光膜
によって光によるトランジスタのリークを防止するもの
であるので、パネルの裏面から照明を施す事が可能であ
り、従来の液晶表示パネルと比較して表示性能が飛躍的
に向上する。
本発明の液晶表示パネルは携帯用機器の表示装置として
広範な用途の使用が期待きれる。

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 １）スイッチングトランジスタアレイを有するＩＪＩ示
    パネルにおいて、トランジスタと該トランジスタが形成
    されたノ（ネル基板の間に遮光膜が形成された事を特徴
