Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate hydrogen brittleness of plated objects by annealing a zinc plated metal which is subjected to a chromate treatment and a roughening treatment, at prescribed temps. and time.
CONSTITUTION: A metal to be plated is defatted, washed and pickled, and zinc plated. Next, the zinc plated metal is put in, for example, a ball mill, and glass beads and chromate liquid (chromic acid anhydrid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, acetic acid) are added to this and the mill is rotated, whereby the zinc plated surface is roughened and a chromate film is applied on the plated surface. Thence, the zinc plated metal completed of said treatment is annealed for 1W3hr at 180W220°C. The resultant zinc plated metal is eliminated of hydrogen brittleness and averts material breakdown.
