Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a recording layer with uniform film thickness easily, by forming the recording layer on a recessed discoid substrate forming part of a spherical surface. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording disk 12 is manufactured by forming a recording layer 10 on a recessed discoid substrate 9 made of metal, glass, plastics, etc., and forming part of a spherical surface, by vapor deposition, sputtering, etc., to uniform film thickness, and then by coating the surface with a protective layer 11 made of transparent plastics, synthetic rubber, etc. When a boat 7 containing a recording medium 8 is arranged at the center position of the radius of curvature of the substrate 9 to perform vapor deposition, any position on the surface of the substrate 9 is at equal distance from the vapor-deposition source, thus vapor-depositing the recording medium uniformly on the substrate 9.
