Abstract
PURPOSE:To prolong the life of an optical disk without spoiling the sensitivity of recording layer, by forming the 1st organic protective layer and the 2nd inorganic protective layer successively in order on the recording layer of the optical disk. CONSTITUTION:On a transparent plastic substrate 1, a recording layer 2 is formed by using Te, etc. On the layer 2, the 1st protective layer 3 of an organic material, such as polystyrene, acrylic and epoxy resin, is formed. Then, the 2nd protective layer 4 is formed on the layer by using one of SiO, SiO2, Si3N4, and a ''NESA '' layer. This disk is irradiated with converged layer to evaporate the Te layer 2, and consequently Te vapor is confined in the laser 3 and liquefied to solidify swelling at the circumferential part of a pit, so that a decrease in sensitivity is hard to occur. The inorganic layer 4 on the layer 3 stops the permeation of O2 and H2O and also prevents the layer 2 from deteriorating owing to oxidation, etc., thus prolonging the life of the optical disk.
