Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the melt evaporation of an optically recording medium, to increase the recording margin, to reduce the medium noise and to prevent the signal deterioration due to regeneration by laying a specified thin film layer film layer on the medium showing a change in the refractive index or the transmittance when irradiated with light. CONSTITUTION:On transparent substrate 1 recording layer 2 and thin film layer 3 are laminated. Layer 2 is made of As-Se-Ge, Ag2O or the like showing a change in the refractive index or the transmittance when irradiated with light. Layer 3 is made of Al, Au or the like having a softening temp. or a m.p. enough to prevent softening or melt evaporation under irradiated light and higher heat conductivity than the recording medium. When incident laser beam 4 is applied to the recording medium, layer 2 undergoes a change in the refractive index or the transmittance to record a signal. At this time, layer 2 is not melt evaporated in the presence of layer 3 even in a region of higher recording laser power, and an increase of the medium noise due to the deposition of evaporated matter can be prevented.
