Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an optical recording medium that is capable of maintaining the records stably for long time by constituting the substrate with a transparent plastics, and putting a transparent film that consists of an inorganic material in between the substrate and a recording material layer. CONSTITUTION:Thin transparent films 5 and 5' that consists of inorganic material such as SiO2 is formed by vapor deposition on one face of a substrate 1, 1', made of transparent plastic such as acrylic resin. Next, recording layers 6 and 6' made of vapor depositions of Te, etc. are formed. After organic recording material layers 2 and 2' are formed as needed respectively on the inner faces of two substrates that form inorganic thin films (SiO2) and vapor deposited recording layers (Te) in this way, gaskets 3 and 3' made of metallic material such as aluminum, etc. are provided at the outer and inner circumferences of the substrates 1 and 1', and the above mentioned recording layers 6 and 6' are pasted together with epoxy resin with their front faces facing each other, and the air space 4 formed by the substrates 1 and 1' and gaskets 3 and 3' is filled with dry nitrogen to obtain a desired light recording medium.
