PURPOSE:To obtain an information recording medium having a high sensitivity, which can be written in by an energy beam of a low output, by using an information film whose main component is a metallic material containing nitrogen N. CONSTITUTION:A recording medium is manufactured by covering a substrate 11 of plastic, etc. with a recording film 12 obtained by making a recording material a thin film. In this regard, in order to improve an adhesive property for the substrate 11 and the recording film 12, or an optical quality, a suitable ground layer 13 is formed as necessary. The information recording film 12 realizes its high sensitivity by containing N in a metallic material such as tellurium Te, etc. That is to say, when N is contained, a recording temperature is lowered without giving many variations to absorptivity of light and thermal conductivity. According to such a constitution, it is possible to obtain an information recording medium having a high sensitivity, which can be written in by an energy beam of a low output.
