Abstract

PURPOSE: To cast products of high quality free from cavity defects by reducing the gases existing in product cavities as far as possible by devicing the operation of pressurizing pins in a pressure casting method using said pins.
CONSTITUTION: A prescribed amt. of molten metal is teemed into the space delineated by a counter plunger 7 and a sleeve 4 through a pouring port 8 with a ladle 12, and is kept still to allow impurities to float upward. Next, the plunger 7 is lowered and a gate 11 is opened to introduce the molten metal 13 gently into product cavities 3. When the molten metal 13 is introduced under pressure up to the positions B, that is, near the leading ends of the pressurizing pins 10 projected into the cavities 3, the pins 10 are pulled up synchronously with the filling speed of the molten metal 13. Prior to the solidification of the molten metal 13 after filling of the molten metal 13, the pins 10 are again projected to pressurize the molten metal 13. By this pressurizing, slight small cavities 14 are annihilated approximately throughly.
