Abstract
PURPOSE:To prepare a rubber composition exhibiting excellent adhesivity to steel cord and high breaking strength when vulcanized at high temperature, by compounding a rubber with an organic acid cobalt salt, sulfur, m-cresol resin, and polymethoxymethyl melamine. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. of raw rubber is mixed and kneaded with 0.1- 0.6pt.wt. (as cobalt) of an organic acid cobalt salt (pref. cobalt naphthenate), 1-10pts.wt. of m-cresol resin, 0.5-10pts.wt. of polymethoxymethyl melamine and 3-10pts.wt. of sulfur. The composition exhibits excellent water-resistant adhesivity before vulcanization, water-resistant adhesivity after vulcanization and hot-water-resistant adhesivity after vulcanization in the bonding to steel cord even by the high-temperature vulcanization.
