Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the manufacture of small-sized cathode ray tube stably, by previously forming a fluorescent face on another transparent substrate then holding it with a support arranged in a vacuum container and arranging in he proximity of the inner face of the face section. CONSTITUTION:A fluorescent material layer 10, a filming film 18 and a metal-back layer 11 such as aluminium are formed on the surface of a transparent substrate 23 to form a fluorescent face target 24. On the other hand a gun stem assembly 19 is prepared and a resilient support 22 is welded to the high voltage leading electrode 15 of said assembly and the fluorescent face target 24 is held between the holder section 22a of said support 22. Thereafter it is inserted into a glass bulb 8 and evacuated to complete a cathode ray tube 7. Consequently the fluorescent material layers for small-sized cathode ray tube used in a large area display can be mass processed stably resulting in the improvement of the mass productionability.
