Abstract

PURPOSE:To maintain high level of vacuum in a tube, by covering the inner face of bulb with crystalized frit glass layer and providing an electrode made of a metal film on said layer thereby suppressing the discharge of gas from the side of inner face of said glass layer. CONSTITUTION:The glass bulb 1 is compised of a face panel section 1a, funnel section 1b and a neck section 1c where a charge image storing fluorescent member film 4 is applied on the inner face of face panel 1a while a crystalized frit glass layer 5 is applied on the inner face of the funnel section 1b and metal films 6a, 6b functioning as a collimation electrode is formed on said frit glass layer 5 through vacuum deposition. Consequently the discharge of gas from the side of inner face of the funnel section is suppressed thus high level vacuum is maintained in the bulb.
