Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption and to prevent the malfunction of a device which has a heavy load by increasing the resistance value of a pull-down resistance or by separating the pull-down resistance from an input terminal periodically or for a prescribed period after a signal is inputted. CONSTITUTION:An input terminal where an external instruction is inputted is connected to one potential Vss of a power source through a pull-down resistance R and when the instruction is inputted, this input terminal is connected to the other potential VDD side of the power source, thus constituting a signa1 input part. Then, the resistance value of the pull-down resistance R is increased periodically or for a prescribed period after the signal is inputted, or the input terminal 18 is isolated from the pull-down resistance R. For example, a transmission gate TG controlled by a clock signal phi is provided between an input switch SW and the input terminal 18, and an FF for holding the input signal is also provided. Then, the gate TG is closed only during the VDD potential period of the clock signal phi , and a current flows through the resistance R only during the said period.
