Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the interrupting ability of a main switch element, by detecting that the current of the main switch element is abnormally greater and superposing a voltage of a capacitor which waits for charging in advance on an off-gate voltage. CONSTITUTION:Switches 3, 3' turn on, a power supply 1 is applied between the gate and cathode of a switch element 30 and it is triggered. In this case, a capacitor 13 is charged via a diode 12. If the current of the switch element 30 is abnormally greater and it is required to increase the interrupting capability, a switch 11 is triggered in synchronizing with switches 4, 4' for turning off. Then, power supply 1 and the capacitor 13 are connected in series and the voltages are applied between the cathode and gate of the switch element 30, allowing to turn off the switch element 30 surely.
