Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of charge/discharge performance of a secondary battery, by stopping a current from the secondary battery to a timepiece operation circuit, if light is not shone upon a solar battery for a prescribed time. CONSTITUTION:A secondary battery 2 is charged with a solar battery 1 via a limiter 5 and power is applied to a timepiece moving circuit 4. If a voltage generated from the solar battery 1 does not reach a prescribed value, it is detected with the limiter 5, and if this detected period exceeds a prescribed period, the supply of power from the battery 2 to a timepiece operating circuit 3 is interrupted with a current controlling circuit 7. If the output from the solar battery 1 is not applied for a month to two, the current from the secondary battery 2 to the circuit 3 is stopped. If the output from the solar battery is presented, a current flows from the secondary battery to the circuit 3 to operate the timepiece.
