Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the hot workability, heat resistance and oxidation resistance of a heat resistant Ni-Cr steel by adding a specified amount of Ca, Mg or REM to the steel or further adding Ti, Nb, Ta, Zr or V.
CONSTITUTION: By adding one or more among 0.001W0.01% Ca, 0.001W0.4% Mg and 0.005W0.05% REM to a heat resistant steel contg. 0.01W0.2% C, 0.1W2.0% Si, 0.3W2.0% Mn, 35W45% Ni, 18W23% Cr and 0.0005W0.01% B, the hot workability of the steel is enhanced by the action of the added element combined with the contained B. By further adding one or more among <0.3% Ti, <0.3% Nb+ Ta, <0.3% Zr and <0.3% V, the contained C is fixed to prevent grain boundary oxidation due to the formation of carbides such as Cr23C6 on the grain boundaries, and the oxidation resistance at high temp. is also enhanced.
