Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the carbide embrittlement resistance, oxidation resistance, hot workability and high temp. strength of an austenitic heat resistant steel by adding a specific amt. of one or more out of Ti, Nb, Zr, Hf, Ta, etc. as well as Y as an essential element.
CONSTITUTION: To an austenitic heat resistant steel contg. C<0.12%, Si; 0.1W 0.5%, Mn<2.0%, Ni; 8W35% and Cr; 16W27% is added 0.005W0.30% of Y or Y and lanthanides for covering the effect of Y. At the same time, one or more out of Ti, Nb, Zr, Hf, Ta, etc. is added in an amt. satisfying formulae I,II. Thus, an austenitic heat resistant steel is obtd, having superior basic characteristics as heat resistant steel, e.g. oxidation resistance, hot workability, high temp. strength, etc., and showing superior resistance to carbide embrittlement.
