Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a compact gasifying converter without affecting the activity of steam reforming catalyst by using a ceramic heater for heating the steam reforming catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A steam reforming catalyst 3 is surrounded by a ceramic heated and heated thereby. When the catalyst 3 reaches a set temperature, a liquid fuel is supplied through a liquid fuel supply port 7 to a mixing zone 2 and vaporized there, and at the same time water is sent from a hot water intake port 9 into a gasifying converter 1 and heated by the heater 4 into steam. The steam is then mixed with the liquid fuel in the mixing zone 2, and the mixing is brought into contact with the catalyst 3, where it is decomposed into light gases composed primarily of methane and hydrogen. The formed gas is discharged from an outlet 8.
