Abstract

PURPOSE: To better a heat supply condition to a catalyst-reforming layer for obtaining a high reforming efficiency, by a method in which a catalyst-burning layer is provided close to a catalyst-reforming layer and combustion heat obtained from the combustion of fuel in the catalyst-burning layer is supplied to the catalyst-reforming layer.
CONSTITUTION: In the inside of a casing 1 filled with a heat-storing material 6, a double tube consisting of an inner tube 3 into which a catalyst-reforming layer 2 is filled and an outer tube 5 into which a catalyst-burning layer 4 is filled is provided. And, fuel supplied to a supply tube 10 is burned with burning air in the catalyst layer 4 and by the combustion heat produced there, the catalyst layer 2 and the heat-storing material 6 are heated and at the same time the inside of the casing 1 is heated to 500W900°C. Then, a mixture of hydrocarbon and water vapor, heated from ordinary temperature to 500°C, is supplied through a valve 9 from a mixed fluid supply header 7 to the catlyst layer 2, where the mixture is reformed into a mixed fluid containing H2, CO, CO2, and methane and then taken out of a discharge header 8.
