Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the optical characteristics that prevents the ripple at the long wavelength side of a visible wavelength region, by increasing the thickness of the optical film on the final layer of a dichroic mirror formed by laminating altenately the materials of high and low refractive indexes more than other layers. CONSTITUTION:A dichroic mirror is formed by vacuum depositing a materials H and L having high and low refractive indexes alternately on a substrate 3 made of a glass plate, a prism, etc. The final layer of such dichroic mirror is brought into contact with the air. The thickness of the optical film of the 1st layer counted from the substrate 3 is set smaller than lambda/4, where lambda is the designed wavelength. The optical film thickness of the 2nd layer is also regulated to smaller than lambda/4. The optical film thickness of the final layer is regulated to larger than lambda/4. In such way, the ripple can be satisfactorily eliminated at the long wavelength side of a visible range.
