Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the radiation light to the direction opposite from the light receiving direction and achieve the reduction of insertion losses by guiding light to the columnar body having the specified width composed of the thin layers formed on the top or in the inside of a substrate. CONSTITUTION:The columnar body 10 having the specified width composed of the thin layer part 11 formed by thin films through sputtering method or the like is formed on the top or in the inside of an element material substrate 1 by a photolithography method, fine patterning method or the like and grating groups 21, 22 are provided not only on one side face of this columnar body 10 but also on the both side faces as well. Arrangement is so made that light is guided in this columnar body 10. Thereby, the reflected light to the direction opposite from the light receiving direction may be suppressed considerably and the insertion losses at the branching characteristic may be reduced considerably.
