Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the amount of a binder and to shorten the time for treatment using a wet-process granulator, by a method wherein the water content of a pulverized coal-water slurry is adjusted to a value within a specified range, the binder is added to the slurry to be spread on the surface of the pulverized coal, and then wet-process granulation is conducted.

CONSTITUTION: Raw coal (a) stored in a raw coal reservoir 1 is supplied to a wet-process crusher 2 where coal is crushed to particles having a diameter of 5mm or smaller. Then a slurry (g) of the pulverized coal in water is prepared, concentrated in a concentrator 4, and then dehydrated in a filter 5 to a level of a water content of 15W40wt%. In an agglomerating machine 6 a binder (l) is added to the dehydrated coal (k). The mixture is kneaded to spread the binder (l) on the surface of the pulverized coal, whereby agglomerated coal (m) is formed. Then the coal (m) is supplied to a slurry concentration-adjusting tank 7 to adjust the concn. of the slurry, and then supplied to a wet-process granulator 8 where coal is granulated by the action of strong rotating energy and further deinsified.
