Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the agitating power and increase the granulating rate, by adding a surfactant and a binder to a slurry of a fine pulverized coal, and agitating the mixture in a mixed state of the gas with the liquid phase to reduce the apparent specific gravity of the slurry.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous slurry of coal, a lipophilic surfactant and a binder, e.g. a bituminous material, are fed from a feed port 2 of a granulator 1, and the resultant slurry is then agitated vigorously with agitating blades 6 in a mixed state of the gas with the liquid phase to unite, consolidate and granulate the fine pulverized coal and transport the granulated slurry toward an outlet 4 of the granulator 1 while regulating the particle diameter of the granulated coal suitable for the hydraulic transport with the size of slits provided at the agitating blades (6A) and (6B). The resultant granulated coal is then taken out of the outlet 4.
EFFECT: The deashing, desulfurization, dehydration and granulating of the fine pulverized coal slurry can be continuously carried out, and the resultant granulated coal is easily burned due to the air contained therein.
