Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently prepare deashed coals different in deashing degrees from each other, by treating a slurry of ash-contg. pulverized coal stepwise with on insufficient amt. of a low-boiling oil, using a seed.
CONSTITUTION: 1st step deashing: a pulverized coal slurry, a seed such as a hard vinyl chloride resin grannule of particle size of several mm and 5W10wt%, based on the pulverized coal, low-boiling oil such as kerosine or gasoline are mixed, agitated and granulated. Then a granule consisting of the pulverized coal, the low-boiling oil and the seed is separated and washed, which a slurry contg. ungranulated pulverized coal and ash is discharged. Then the low-boiling oil and water are separated by heating the granule, and then the seed is separated to obtain a deashed coal. The low-boiling oil and the seed are recycled for use. 2nd step deashing: the slurry obtd. in the 1st step, contg. the ungranulated pulverized coal and ash is subjected to the same treatment as in the 1st step to obtain a deashed coal of a somewhat lower deashing degree than the deashed coal obtd. at the 1st step.
