Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the inclusion of slag and to perform slag cutting surely and safely by controlling a furnace body tilting device by means of the back pressure detection signal for the inert gas blown into the molten steel in the furnace during tapping.
CONSTITUTION: Plural nozzles 5 are provided in positions around the tap hole 2 of a furnace body 1 where they immerse in the molten steel at all times during tapping. Upon completion of blowing, the body 1 is tilted by a tilting device, and an inert gas is blown at a constant flow rate from the nozzles 5. During tapping, the molten steel level acts and the flow rate goes toward a decreasing direction but a flow rate control valve 13 operates upon decreasing of the pressure difference before and behind an orifice 10 in accordance with this, thereby maintaining the flow rate constant. The detected back pressure P of a back pressure detecting part 7 goes higher by as much as the molten steel level. As the tapping progresses, the back pressure P drops and when the tapping completes, it equals to the pressure of slag 4. The back pressure P is inputted to a control part 9. The part 9 is beforehand set with the value corresponding to the back pressure at the completion of tapping and at the same instant when the completion of the tapping is detected, the furnance body 1 is erected to the home position. The slag in the hole 2 is expelled by blowing of gas and the inclusin thereof into the tapping flow is prevented.
