Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture an inert gas with lesser amounts of water consumed by a method in which water is directly brought into contact with hot combustion gas to form wet gas, and then the wet gas is cooled to a temperature below the dew point to recover water for recycling.
CONSTITUTION: Combustion gas generated from a burner 1 inside a combustion chamber 4 is wetted by water jetted from an inlet 7 for water to form a wet vapor stream. Then, the set vapor stream is directed through paths 10 and 11 into an air cooling device 12 to cool it until nearly ambient humidity is reached, whereupon water jetted and moisture present in the combustion gas are condensed and gain circulated through a path 16 by a pump 9 to a water nozzle 7. Thus, the amount of water consumed in the manufacture of an inert gas can be reduced.
