Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable accurate measurement of temperature irrelevant to frequent occurrence of unsatisfied reflection requirements of a mirror surface by calculating the radiation factor and the temperature of an object based on maximum and minimum values of the output of a radiation thermometer for a long term. CONSTITUTION:A block body furnace 14 is provided at a central port 20 of a water-cooled shielding plate 18 fitted with a furnace wall 10, while a radiometer 16 is provided at opening 24 thereof. When the radiometer 16 receives radiation energy following the movement of the view, the output thereof indicates the maximum and minimum values. As oscillated surface of a running strip 12 will hamper the satisfaction of the reflection reguirement of the mirror surface, the peak may disappear in some cases. As this oscillation is cyclical, the output of the radiometer is measured for a long term enough to cover the cycle of the oscillation and the results of the measurement are processed statistically to obtain the maximum and minimum values of the output. Computation using the values enables accurate measurement of the radiation factor and the temperature of the strip 12.
