Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure accurate heat capacity, by momentarily radiating the radiant rays on the surface of the standard test piece with a thermocouple and obtaining the temperature rise of the test piece rear surface based on the relation between the temperature rise obtained with the thermocouple and the output of the infrared ray detector.
CONSTITUTION: The test piece 2 of flat plate shape is fitted in the test piece hold cylinder 1 and it is installed in the electric furnace 3, and laser beam momentarily radiated on the surface of the test piece 2 from the laser beam source 6. Further, the thermal rays radiated at the rear side of the test piece are detected with the infrared ray detector 9 via the apperture 7 and troidal mirror 8. The output of the thermocouple 10 is measured with the voltmeter 11 to detect the temperature of the test piece 2. The measurement of the output of the thermocouple 10 with the voltmeter 11 detects the test piece 2, and the energy absorbed in the test piece can be obtained at the energy monitor 12 of laser beam radiated on the test piece 2 and the monitor 13 of laser beam reflected on the test piece 2. The heat capacity can be calculated based on those.
