Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce concns. of org. substances in waste water considerably and make the treating devices for an intermediate treatment process extremely compact by using the used active carbon which is used in a finish treatment process in a rough treatment process.
CONSTITUTION: Active carbon is used for the 1st, and 3rd treatment processes, and aerobic biological treatment, anaerobic digestion treatment, etc. are used for the 2nd treatment process. The concns. of org. substance of raw waste water, roughly removed water, intermediate treated water and finish treated water are defined as A, B, C and D, and the adsorption capacities of active carbon in each concn. are defined as (a), (b), (c) and (d). The active carbon in the finish treatment adsorbs away org. substance by the rate (c) of adsorption only, but if the active carbon after the adsorption is reused for rough removal of the raw waste water of the concn A, the rate of adsorption increases up to (a). By the effective utilization of the active carbon used in the finish treatment in this way, the org. substance load upon the intermediate treatment is reduced considerably. It is possible to regenerate and use the active carbon used in the 1st rough treatment process.
