Abstract
PURPOSE: To purify waste water easily and stably by an activated sludge process by charging excess sludge to the waste water, subjecting the waste water to the aeration treatment, and again treating the treated waste water separated from sludge by means of activated sludge.
CONSTITUTION: Excess sludge of 0.4W4kg BOD/kg MLSS.Day is charged as BOD load to the high BOD concn. waste water or polysaccharides-contg. waste water discharged from fermentation industry, milling industry, meat processing industry, etc. and the waste water is subjected to aeration treatment at pH around neutral and at about 20W35°C temps. Thence, the sludge is separated from the waste water by such means as addition of flocculants, after which the separated waste water is subjected to activated sludge treatment by a conventional method. Thereby, the BOD components which are low in the rate of purification by the activated sludge treatment alone is purified efficiently, and the BOD components of, for example, the waste water of oxidized starch production are removed by ≥90%.
