Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure the sealing of a battery, which is performed by welding the attaching parts of a case and a lid with laser light, by irradiating laser light on the contacting part between the peripheries of the case and the lid, after inwardly bending the attaching parts for making the peripheries to closely touch one another. CONSTITUTION:A generation element 3 is installed in a battery case 1 made of metal. After that, the case 1 is hermetically sealed with a battery lid 2 to which a negative terminal pin 5, which penetrates the central hole of the lid 2, is fixed by interposing an insulating material 4 between the pin 5 and the lid 2, thereby constituting a battery. In sealing the battery, a rising periphery 2' of the lid 2 is attached to a periphery 1' of the case 1, and the attaching parts of the case 1 and the lid 2 are fused by irradiating a laser light 6 on them. Here, a satisfactory fusing part 7 is formed by irradiating the laser light 6 on the contacting part between the peripheries 1' and 2' near the attaching parts, after slightly bending the attaching parts inward so as to make the peripheries 1' and 2' to closely contact with one another.
