Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as an intermediate of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, etc., in high yield, by contacting easily available perhydro-N5-hy- droxy-4a,5a-oxyaminophenazine with an acid.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula II is prepared by contacting the compound of formulaIwith an acid such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc. The amount of the acid is pref. 1.0W3.0 equivalent based on the starting raw material. The reaction is carried out at room temp. W110°C for 0.1W20hours. The compound of formulaIcan be prepared e.g. by reacting the compound of formula III with NOCl or a combination of HSO4NO and HCl, and contacting the resulted compound of formula IV or formula V with NH3 or aqueous ammonia relatively low molar ratio. Since the starting compound of formulaIhas high thermal stability, the yield of the reaction is high.
