Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtan 2-dimethylamino-1,3-dithiocyanatopropane useful as an insecticide and an acaricide industrially and advantageously, by reacting a dimethylamino-bis(arenesulfonylthio)propane with a prussiate.
CONSTITUTION: A 2-dimethylamino-1,3-bis(arenesulfonylthio)propane, e.g. 2- dimethylamino-1,3-bis)benzenesulfonylthio)propane, is reacted with a prussiate, e.g. potassium cyanide, at a molar ratio of preferably 1:2, if necessary in a neutral solvent, at room temperature or below for several minutes to some ten minutes to give the aimed compound.
EFFECT: The aimed compound can be obtained in high purity and yield under mild conditions in a short time, and an arenesulfinate salt formed as a by-product can be readily separated due to the water solubility thereof.
USE: An intermediate for preparing a thiolcarbamate derivative which is a strong insecticide.
