Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound which is an intermediate of sulfonediimine compound useful as a surface active agent, etc., easily, industrially, in high yield, by reacting a sulfylimine compound in the presence of chloramine compound and a sulfonamide compound.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula IV (R1 and R2 are alkyl, aryl, etc. or together form a ring; R3 is alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl, etc.) can be prepared by reacting a sulfylimine compound of formulaIwith a chloramine compound of formula II (X is halogen; A is metal atom or ammonium group) in the presence of a sulfonamide compound of formula III. The amount of the chloramine compound is equivalent or somewhat excess to that of the sulfylimine compound. When a sulfonamide compound is used in combination with the above, its amount is preferably equivalent or somewhat excess to the chloramine compound. The objective compound of formula IV can be converted quantitatively to the sulfonediimine compound of formula V useful as a surface active agent, etc., by reacting with concentrated sulfuric acid, and then neutralizing with an alkali.
