Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the carriage of transfer paper and the transfer of a plurality of toner images by a simple common means with a transfer drum by supplying charges to the transfer body having an insulated external surface from the outside. CONSTITUTION:A transfer drum 5 is set opposite to the external surface of a photoreceptor drum 1 leading to a developing device 4. A corona charger 7 is installed at the outside of a region contacting with the external surface of the drum 5 having an electrically insulated surface layer 53. Transfer paper P is charged with electricity having polarity reverse to that of charges of toner particles, and by the electrostatic attraction of the charges of the paper P, the paper P is attracted to the external surface of the drum 5. By rotating the drum 5 in synchronism with the drum 1, the paper P is carried, and the 1st toner image formed on the drum 1 is transferred onto the paper P. The drum 5 is further rotated to form the 2nd transferred image on the 1st transferred image. Thus, the carriage of transfer paper and the transfer of a plurality of toner images can be attained with the transfer drum.
