Abstract
PURPOSE: To promote atomization and mixing of fuel in an intake system for an internal combustin engine in which a fuel injection valve is provided in each branch pipe of an intake manifold, by dividing the inner space of each branch pipe into two passages, and providing a fuel injection valve, auxiliary air intake port, and auxiliary throttle valve in each of the two passages.
CONSTITUTION: The inner space of each branch pipe 5a of an intake manifold 5 is divided into a first passage 5b and a second passage 5c larger than the first passage 5b. A fuel injection port 6a of a fuel injection valve 6 formed in the first passage 5b in the manner that it is directed toward the head 4a of an intake valve 4 and a venturi 9 is provided at the front of the injection port 6a, while an auxiliary throttle valve 10 is provided in the second passage 5c. The venturi 9 is formed with an annular groove 9b around the outer circumference of its throat part 9a. The annular groove 9b is communicated via an auxiliary air intake port 9c to an auxiliary air intake passage 5d formed in the branch pipe 5a and then to an up-stream part of a throttle valve 7 in a throttle body 8 via a pipe 11. On the other hand, the throttle valve 10 is fixed to a shaft 12 and applied with the biasing force of a spring 13 so that it is closed normally.
