Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve combustion characteristics of the internal combustion engine and thereby save fuel cost by a method wherein air bypassing a throttle valve is jetted from a nozzle in between the throttle valve and an intake port, thereby causing turbulence in fuel-air mixture.
CONSTITUTION: The fuel gasified in a carburetor 8 turns to be fuel-air mixture, which is sent to a cylinder 1 through the throttle valve 9, an intake pipe 7, the intake port 7' and an intake valve 3. A channel 12 is connected with an idle-time by-pass orifice 10 located on the upstream side of the throttle valve 9 and with a low-speed-time by-pass orifice 11 and the area of the by-pass orifice 11 that faces the upstreame side of the throttle valve 9 increases sequentially as the throttle valve 9 opens to a prescribed degree of opening. Since the air or superthinned fuel-air mixture bypassing the throttle valve 9 flows in the channel 12, a difference in pressure is caused between the channel 12 and the tip part of the nozzle 13, whereby high-speed flow is jetted out from the nozzle 13.
