Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve responsive acceleration and specific output of an engine, by holding flow speed of intake air to a combustion chamber as high as possible. CONSTITUTION:The first intake passage 8a, having an intake valve 6a, and the second intake passage 8b, having the other intake valve 6b, are formed in a cylinder head 5. Further both ports 9a, 9b are communicated by a communication hole 10. The port 9a in the downstream end of the first branch line 22a of an intake manifold 12 is opened to a position in the vicinity of a joint surface with a cylinder 2 in the side of the cylinder head 5, rapidly curved with large curvature and communicated to the inside of a combustion chamber through the intake valve 6a. The other port 9b is opened to the upper part slightly separated from the before described side of the cylinder head, gently curved from there with small curvature and communicated to the combustion chamber. At high output operation, a mixture in the second intake passage 8b, flowing in the port 9b with small curvature, causes a less amount of loss.
