Abstract

PURPOSE: To effect an inertia supercharging in all speed range of the engine by a method wherein the position of the joining point of a plurality of suction paths connected to the cylinders being overlapped in the suction valve opening timing thereof is moved in accordance with the speed of the engine.
CONSTITUTION: The upstream end of each suction manifold branch section 3 connected to all of the cylinders #1W#6 is opened at the downstream side assembling chamber 4. A change-over valve 5 capable of communicating and shutting spaces 4A, 4B mutually is provided in the chamber 4. At an engine revolving speed below a predetermined value, the change-over valve 5 is closed to shut the space 4A from the space 4B and the suction air is ramified at the upstram side assembling chamber 8 into paths 6, 11. At the engine speed above the predetermine value, the change-over valve 5 is opened to communicate the spaces 4A, 4B in the downstream side assembling chamber 4. According to this operation, a whole of the internal space of the assembling chamber 4 receives the negative pressure of all of the cylinders #1W#6 continuously and is kept in a substantially constant negative pressure.
