Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent such troubles as leakage of fuel from a carburetor, sucking-out of oil, etc. by a method wherein a supercharger is provided separately from the intake system of the carburetor, and the supply of a fuel-air mixture and the pressure charging can be performed independently by separate intake valves.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of engine operation, exhaust gas is fed from an exhaust valve 8 to an exhaust-gas turbine 16 of the supercharger 13 through an exhaust pipe 18 and rotates the turbine 16, thereby driving a blowing pump 17. Accordingly, air is sucked in from an air cleaner 10 and pressurized, and a supercharge of air is fed to a combustion chamber 2 through a supercharging pipe 14 and the intake valve 5. On the other hand, since the other intake valve 4 is also opened during the intake stroke, the mixture formed in the carburetor 11 is fed into the combustion chamber 2. Accordingly, it is possible to eliminate such inconveniences as the leakage of fuel from the carburetor 11 and the sucking-out of oil, which are encountered in cases where the supercharger 13 is placed on the upstream or downstream side of the carburetor 11.
