Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a mercaptoamine useful as a raw material for medicines, etc. esily in high purity and yield, by hydrolyzing a 2-(2'-aminoethylthio)-2-thiazolidine dihydrohalide derivative with a hydrohalogenic acid.
CONSTITUTION: A 2-(2'-aminoethylthio)-2-thiazolidine dihydrohalide derivative, e.g. 2-(2'-aminoethylthio)-2-thiazolidine dihydrobromide, expressed by formula I (R1, R2, R3 and R4 are H or lower alkyl; X is halogen) is hydrolyzed with a hydrohalogenic acid, e.g. ≥15% hydrochloric acid, to give a mercaptoamine expressed by formula II. The reaction is carried out at 50°C or above for 3W90hr, and the amount of the hydrohalogenic acid to be used is 1/2W20 molar equivalents based on the compound expressed by formula I. Toxic H2S or by-products which are not easily separated are not formed. The compound expressed by formula I can be obtained quantitatively by reacting a compound expressed by formula III with a compound expressed by formula IV.
