Abstract
PURPOSE:To work a slit opening to high accuracy with simple constitution and make the gap size of the opening adjustable by forming a nozzle of a combination of split bodies. CONSTITUTION:The recessing side surface of one stationary split body 1 of a nozzle tip forming a planoconcave shape is provided movably with other square shaped split body 2 in such a way as to make the gap width of a slit opening 3 variable while these are held in close contact with each other. The four-side wall planes enclosing the slit opening 3 are absent of any object which will restrict the manipulation of working tools on the outer side of the respective planes and since these are open planes, high degrees of working accuracy and dimensional accuracy are obtained. Hence, the unstability of the ejection flow of molten metal, the thickness fluctuation of the metallic sheet to be produced, the fluctuation in cooling rate, etc. are reduced, and the use of materials, such as high-purity alumina, silicon nitride and the like which have high abrasion resistance and the like but are poor in workability is made possible.
