Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the resistance against a long period torque variation small, to make the resistance against a short period vibration large, and to easily control the size of middle and small diameter products, by installing a resistor resisting against a displacement of a roll chock in the rolling direction between the roll chock of a rolling roll and a stationary stand housing.
CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic cylinder 7 is installed on each side of a roll chock 2 at its axial center so as to work in the rolling direction; a pressure liquid is sent from a pump 9 into a pressure chamber of the hydraulic cylinder 7 for eliminating the looseness between the roll chock 2 and the stand housing 3. The liquid valves 11, 12 are then closed, and hereby, these two valves 11, 12 work as a clamper for clamping down the roll chock 2 with the stand housing 3. A main valve 13 is then closed, and the valves 11, 12 are opened; hereby, two hydraulic cylinders 7, 7 communicate with each other and display a viscous damping effect. By the present constitution, the resistance against a long period torque variation is small, and the resistance against a relatively short period vibration is made large, so that the variation of the interstand tension is eliminated.
