Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance high toughness and corrosion resistance of an alloy obtained by a method wherein Co is further added to a martensite type stainless steel and quantitative relation of other elements is appropriately adjusted.
CONSTITUTION: Said alloy excellent in high toughness and corrosion resistance contains, in the wt% basis, 0.3W1.5% Mo, 1.5W4.5% Ni, 0.5W2.0% Co, 9W13% Cr, 0.08% or less C and the remainder Fe substantially. This alloy which is a Co containing martensite alloy is excellent in a lowering degree of notch toughness, strength, abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance and high temp. hardness compared to conventional martensite type stainless steel.
