Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide mold coating material imparted with sufficient burning preventing effect against molten metal by applying an alcohol type mold coating material compounded with ethyl silicate-hydrolyzed liquid and collophonium as an undercoating layer on a base material and top-coating the 2nd layer thereon.
CONSTITUTION: The mold coating material consisting of 50W90wt% base material such as zirconium powder and 50W10% diluent which consists of ethyl silicate- hydrolyzed liquid which deposits 0.15W0.75% silica content as a tackifier, 0.5W 2.5% collophonium for preventing settling property and a solvent such as ethyl alcohol is prepd. This alcohol type coating is permeated into a mold at ≥2mm from the surface thereof, thereby forming an underlying coating layer. An alcohol type coating contg. an org. binder is applied thereon, thereby forming a top coating layer. The coating of high burning preventing effect is obtained by th coatings of these two layers and the regeneration and recovery of sand are made easy.
