Abstract

918,400. Mould and core materials. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Nov. 16, 1961 [Nov. 28, 1960], No. 41024/61. Class 83 (1). Moulds and cores are coated with hexachlorobenzene to increase the fluidity of ferrous metals and aluminium and magnesium alloys. The coating composition may include a liquid carrier e.g. alcohol, methylene chloride, water, a wetting agent, a filler, e.g. mica, asbestos, carbon, talc, fly-ash, silica flour, comminuted metals, or mixtures thereof, and a binder such as thermosetting or thermoplastic resins, methyl cellulose, linseed oil, corn cereal, clays. For applying by spraying a small amount of thermoplastic, lignin-type resinous materials obtained from wood, waste liquor &c. may be added as binders.
