Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the cracking of the sand mold and dropping of said grains through heating at the flame spraying by coating the mixed solution containing water glass and refractory powder on the sand mold surface prior to spray coating of the refractory material.
CONSTITUTION: The mixed solution of water glass solution and refractory powder is coated on the sand mold surface to allow the solution percolate about 2W5mm in the sand mold surface. After it is dried, refractory material is flame-sprayed. This method lets the binding force of the sand of the sand mold surface layer to be increased by the water glass and refractory powder and lets the coating be accomplished with the firm flame-sprayed layer without separation of sand at the flame spraying of the refractory material. Since burning-in of sand does not occur with the casting to be cast by using this sand mold, the cost required for surface finishing of the casting is saved.
