Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve heat absorbing performance by applying silicon carbide base coating to the surfaces of the heated bodies. CONSTITUTION:The convering material comprising kneading silicon carbide base fine powder of about 100mum or less in grain size with a binder is coated or sprayed to a thicknnss of 0.1-2mm on the surfaces of the heated bodies such as steel ingot, cast ingot, boiler water tubes, pans, etc., after which it is heated and dried. This covering material is superior in dispersion stability and adhesiveness and considerably enhances the radiation heat transfer characteristics of the heated bodies.
