Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the mechanical and chemical reliability of a solar battery by coating the surface of the battery using an amorphous silicon film with a high polymer film. CONSTITUTION:An n<+> type amorphous silicon layer 2 is applied on a metal substrate 1 made of stainless steel or the like by glow discharge or the like and an i type amorphous silicon layer 3 and a p<+> type amorphous silicon layer 4 are stacked in layers. Then, a transparent electrode 5 comprising an indium oxide and a tin oxide is entirely deposited thereon, and a metal electrode 6 made of Al or the like is mounted to a part of the periphery thereof. Then, a coat of a polymer film 7 comprising a polyvinyl alcohol and the like is applied from the surface to the side and the periphery of the bottom thereof exposing the lead wire mounting section of the electrode 6. This softens mechanical stimulation while preventing the contact of the amorphous film with air thereby blocking the infiltration of moisture.
