Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a lithographic press plate requiring no dampening water by forming solvent resistant printing elements on a substrate, protective layers soluble or swellable in a solvent on the elements and a cured silicone layer on the whole surface of the substrate including the protective layers and by removing the protective layers and silicone layers on the protective layers. CONSTITUTION:Solvent resistant printing elements 2 are formed on a substrate 1, and on the elements 2 protective layers 3 soluble or swellable in a solvent are formed. On the other hand, an uncured layer 4 of curing type silicone resin except photosetting type resin is laid on a support film 5 of polypropylene or the like, and after spraying a curing agent on the layer 4 immediately before use, the layer 4 is adhered to the surface of the substrate 1 including the layers 3. By heating to ordinary temp. or above the layer 4 is cured, and the film 5 is peeled off. The layers 3 are then dissolved by immersion in a solvent such as methyl ethyl ketone, and protective layers 3' and silicone layers 4' on the elements 2 are removed by softly rubbing the silicone surface with cloth or the like. Thus, a lithographic press plate requiring no dampening water is obtd.
