Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a buffer memory by adding parity bits to an address memory and a data memory and by reproducing the contents of the buffer memory according to the results of parity checks. CONSTITUTION:Parity bits are added to the address memory 7 and data memory 8 of a buffer memory 2, and the parity information of those memories 7 and 8 are checked in parallel to address comparing operation during a read request from a CPU1; only when the resonableness of them is secured, the operation of the usual buffer memory 2 is performed and when the result shows ''failure,'' the buffer memory 2 actuates itself to send a readout request to an MEM with a request address from the CPU1 to reproduce the contents of each memory in the buffer memory, thereby preventing erroneous data being transferred.
